The absorbent mousse, formulated with Adelmidrol: Clinically proven efficacy

The absorbent mousse, formulated with Adelmidrol is an innovative soothing, sanitising and adsorbent dermatological mousse to normalize areas of dog’s and cat’s skin affected by redness, dandruff (whitish flakes of dead skin) and/or foul-smelling greasy/oily secretions.

The mousse contains Adelmidrol, a patented ALIAmide, congener of palmitoylethanolamide, that soothes the skin and reduces redness and itch. The product features also tapioca starch with adsorbent action (reduces surplus moisture and sebum) and a sanitising complex that helps to maintain a balanced surface microflora.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE PRODUCT
Adelmidrol belongs to the family of ALIAmides (Autacoid Local Injury Antagonist Amides), whose mechanism of action is the down-modulation of mast cells degranulation that occurs during tissue inflammation.
Due to their anti-inflammatory properties, ALIAmides represent an innovative and physiological approach to the management of various skin disorders, as they reproduce the body’s natural protective responses, as opposed to counteracting artificially the negative stimuli that may affect it.

A clinical trial to assess the efficacy of the mousse in a series of 46 dogs and 7 cats affected by atopic dermatitis (cAD) and feline atopic syndrome was performed by twenty-four veterinarians specialized in dermatology (SkinALIA Clinical Research Group). The results were presented at the 34th European Congress of Veterinary Dermatology, in Gothenburg, Sweden from August 31 to September 2.

Each animal was assessed by the veterinarian at the beginning of the study and after 2 weeks. They were allowed to continue the ongoing antiallergic therapies, provided that they had been unchanged for at least 1 month (oral therapies), 2 months (subcutaneous antibodies), or 12 months (immunotherapy), and throughout the entire study duration. Antifungal/antibiotic treatments or any other topical treatments were not permitted.

A significant improvement with no side effects was observed after 2 weeks of treatment: itching was found reduced by 42% in dogs (47% in cats) and seborrhea index was reduced by 53% in dogs (78% in cats).
Veterinarians declared themselves “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the efficacy of the tested mousse in 91% of cases (dogs) and 86% (cats).
